Rana Kommune is a municipality in Northern Norway hosting a large process industry and industrial park. The municipality has around 26 000 inhabitants and its industries have over 1 billion €/year turnover.
The city has a developed district heating grid supplied by excess heat from a local SiMn plant, as a large-scale example of industrial-urban symbiosis.
Rana Municipality collaborates with the other Norwegian partners of THESEUS to realize an I-US replication hub in Rana and Nordland, Norway.
