Standards Norway is the national standardization organization of Norway. It develops and manages standards in Norway and holds the exclusive right to the trademark Norsk Standard (Norwegian Standard, abbreviated NS).
In collaboration with our stakeholders, we develop solutions that enhance efficiency, strengthen competitiveness, and reduce risk for businesses and society. We act as a neutral facilitator among stakeholders and serve as a driving force within global standardization networks.
Standards Norway is a member organization. Our members include businesses, public authorities, interest groups, consumer organizations, research institutions, and others.
Our team of around 90 employees ensures the smooth operation of this important work. We are located in Oslo, Norway.
Main activity: Standardization of novel technologies and activities
Standards Norway will collaborate with DS to map the standardization landscape and help integrate project findings into new or revised standards or pre-normative documents.
Mapping the Landscape: Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current standardization landscape to identify existing standards and standardization activities.
Connecting the Dots: Establish connections with ongoing standardization activities and initiatives to ensure alignment and collaboration. Establishing cooperation with relevant stakeholders.
Spotting the Potential: Assess the potential for standardization within the project, identifying key areas where standards can be developed or improved.
Setting the standards: Create pre-normative documents or standards that capture the project’s key results and facilitate their adoption across different sectors.
Emanuela Rokke holds the position of Business Area Manager at Standards Norway with commercial responsibility for a diverse portfolio of standardization projects. Her areas of responsibility include Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), Information Security, AI, Circular Economy, and Societal and Citizen Security, among others. She spearheads an internal project promoting the integration of standardization in research and innovation (R&I), and she is a member of the External Advisory Group (EAG) for the European project EDU4Standards.
Sigridur Thormodsdottir – Head of Circular Economy Programme and project leader, Standards Norway. Previous, Head of Circular Economy
and biobased industries, Innovation Norway and senior Innovation advisor, Nordic Innovation. Area of responsibility circular transition and development of prosperous sustainable industries.
Marit Hauken MSc Agriculture (Cand. Agric.).
Solid knowledge on agricultural production and pollution and climate-related challenges. Versatile international experience with knowledge of EU law and Norway’s implementation of the EEA Agreement. Additional education in quality management according to ISO 9001 and ISO 9004 and circular economy. Several years of experience from national and European standardization. Current standardization projects include circular economy, fertilizers and liming materials, soil and cultural heritage.
